Good Coverage - Not Good For Overly Dry Skin

The product itself is pretty good. Great coverage. I have dry skin and found this product accentuated my dry patches but overall it's good coverage and consistency. A note on packaging: the first time I opened the product stick had fallen out of the tube completely - was not attached to the base. Taking stars off for the poor packaging.

Thin, powdery, accentuates skin texture in bad way

I have tried this stick foundation with primer, without, with powder overtop and without and I find no matter what it looks powdery and accentuates the texture of my skin in a bad way. Looked the best when i used it as a foundation with no powder. Doesn't really work well with other products and even if I only use it as under eye or spot concealer it looks powdery and not great coverage.

Great product but why does it stinks?

Great finish, the product is easy to blend, no complaints about the color. However I cannot stand the smell of it. I’m okay with fragranced products, in fact I love my beauty products to have fragrance smell. This is not it. It literally STINKS, almost like the product has gone bad. The package is not sealed so that’s a possibility. I really like how it looks on my skin but I might have to return it due to the smell. Hope it’s a problem for the one I received only. Without the smell issue, I’d give 5 stars.

Convenient

Its compatible with my skin. I use Lancome stick which unfortunately isn't available in Canada anymore and I need another stuck foundation. I can't blend liquid foundation so this one is very convenient.

I had been debating whether or not to try this foundation, and when I went on sale I decided to give it a try. So happy I did! I usually use Kevin Aucoin’s foundation balm, but it’s being discounted. I heard some good reviews on this foundation stick so decided to try. The colour match is perfect. It didn’t cause me to breakout or my pores to enlarge. I found it stayed put all day with minimal transfer and I didn’t need to do a million touch ups throughout the day. The coverage is beautiful with it going to full without going cakey. It worked with every concealer I have tried with it. Does not cause dry skin or stick to dry skin patches. But it also isn’t so hydrating that it’s an oily mess halfway through the day. I have worn it with multiple different primers and no primer at all and the overall look was beautiful no matter what primer or no primer. The stick itself is nice and thick and sturdy and I can tell it won’t break easily. Applying with a brush is a little tricky. A thick kabuki brush does the best smaller kabuki brushes made it streaky and the best way I found to apply was with my beauty blender. Wasn’t a matte finish or a really dewy finish but just a natural looking finish. Wasn’t heavy on the skin and felt comfortable throughout the day. I did wear it during one really warm day and it didn’t come all off with my sweat. Might become my new HG foundation and I definitely suggest giving it a try I am acne prone and didn’t break out, so recommend for all skin types.

It loves to drop on the floor

Looks beautiful on my skin. Flawless. BUT the whole stick of foundation dropped out of the holder onto my floor. Replaced - 2nd stick same thing. Auhh. It’s very soft product and youll run through it fast. Will not buy again till they figure out better packaging - maybe in a compact.

Smooth

Smooth and slick. I used to use Lancome stick and unfortunately, in Canada, they don't sell it anymore. For me, I can't blend liquid foundation, I need stick to blend it easily and this one is a good replacement. It doesn't leave my skin dry and cracked

beautiful product/ not long lasting

It goes on super easy. It blends nice. I actually use my fingers to blend this. The colour match is 100% perfect. Looks super natural. The only downfall is it doesn’t last my whole work day. I use setting spray. I’d say max coverage before it starts to breakdown is 5 hours. Also the price is high for the amount of product.

not for dry skin

Do not buy this is you have any kind of dry skin/skin texture at all. Additionally, the amount of product you get vs the price is totally not worth it. I usually get at least a year of use out of any foundation I buy (I really don't care about expiry dates except as they effect hygiene of a product or if it goes off) this only lasted for about a few months. What you see in the product image is what it looks like with the foundation stick fully extended. On top of that, if you're on the darker end of the spectrum don't bother with this - I don't know if YSL has a history of disregarding deeper foundation tones, but I'm pretty pale and ended up with B30 which is way closer to the middle range for this foundation than most. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this since I got it during a sale.

Don’t waste your money.

I have tried many concealers on the market and many stick concealers too. I’ve used Chanel, La Mer, MAC and ILIA concealers for reference. I have also used many YSL products that I was very pleased with, especially their foundations and CC creams! This concealer showed a lot of texture and imperfections on my acne scarred skin. It made my pores look huge and when I put powder on top, it made my make up look caked on. I was really disappointed on how it lacked creamy texture and enhanced all my imperfections. There are better concealers out there at half the price, so unfortunately, this concealer had to go back.
